5. He Wasn't In The Original Guardians Of The Galaxy
Believe it or not, the Guardians of the Galaxy - who have been around as a named team since 1969 - that you saw in their titular movie are a relatively new incarnation of the team. Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and indeed Star-Lord didn't come together as a group until as recently as 2008. That's not to say that Star-Lord hasn't been on the team before that, but he certainly wasn't part of the original team. Major Vance Astro, Captain Charlie-27, Martinex T'Naga and Yondu Udonta made up the first line-up. Astro is an astronaut from 20th century Earth, Charlie-27 is a soldier from Jupiter, T'Naga is a crystalline being from Pluto and Yondu is a blue-skinned "noble savage" from Centauri-IV - the latter of whom was actually in the recent live action movie, but as one of the Ravagers, not a Guardian. The team was every bit as much of a bunch of misfits as the one known to mainstream audiences now, but none of the members were the same.
