5 Ways Flash War Changed The DCU Forever

4. Setting The Record Straight

The Flash Wally West DC Rebirth
DC Comics

Fans of Wally West definitely got a lot to sink their teeth into in Flash War. For many readers, Wally West is THEIR Flash, having held the mantle for over two decades in Barry's absence. When the effects of Flashpoint set in, Wally's history was seemingly erased, and we were given Barry as the one and only Flash.

The world stood still, as fans of the original Wally clamored for his return. That return came with the launch of DC's "Rebirth" initiative, which saw Barry pull Wally out of the speed force and back into the DCU proper.

From the moment he returned, a litany of questions were left unanswered. Where were the rest of the West family? How much of Wally's history is canon? With Barry back, will Wally ever truly step out of his shadow?

Thankfully, Flash War managed to give readers some answers. It was explained that the West Family is trapped in the speed force, and that there might be a way to free them. Barry remembers Wally and his family, cementing Wally's adventures as canon in the DCU. Last but not least issue #49 saw Wally outrun both Superman, and Barry Allen, setting the record straight for the last time.

When it comes to DC Comics, Wally West is truly the Fastest Man Alive.
