8 Batman Crossovers That May Surprise You

5. Batman/Daredevil

This is easily the most obvious crossover for The World's Greatest Detective to engage in, as Daredevil can be seen as Marvel's equivalent to Batman. A spiritual cousin, if you will. Both work best as dark, tortured men who ply their trade in crime-ridden, rain-soaked and dangerous cities. Therefore, while this crossover mightn't be surprising, per se, it did make for two very strong Prestige Format one-shot comics, the first in 1997 and the second in 2000. The first outing, entitled 'Eye For An Eye', followed Batman as he ventured over to New York in pursuit of Two-Face and DD villain Mr Hyde. This tale was written by D.G. Chichester, but the main selling point was the distinctive artwork of Scott McDaniel, a man who made a career drawing the mainstays of Gotham City during his tenures on Nightwing and Batman's solo titles. Batman/Daredevil: King Of New York was then written by Alan Grant (who was involved in quite a lot of these bat-crossovers) and drawn by Eduardo Barretto (The Shadow). The villains this time were The Kingpin and The Scarecrow and the story was also notable for referencing a previous DC/Marvel crossover when it is said that Batman had met Kingpin before. A few entries from now, we'll detail in which crossover that initial meeting took place.
