Have you ever wondered what the Justice League would look like in, let’s say, 1000 years? Well, in 2013 writers JM Dematteis, Keith Giffen, and artist Howard Porter, gave us a vision of that future, with the creation of the Justice League 3000.

Set in the 31st Century, the Justice League 3000 is a superhero team consisting of recreated heroes of the past. Sensing an imminent intergalactic threat, Project Cadmus recreated the Justice League, using dangerous, and experimental genetic engineering. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern, are all reborn but have slight imperfections due to the experimental way they were created.

Some of these imperfections include most of the heroes having huge gaps in their memories. Bruce Wayne for instance, can’t remember the death of his parents. Others have lost their ability to use their powers because of the experiment. This includes Superman being unable to fly, and Green Lantern no longer requiring a power ring, but becoming the embodiment of emerald energy himself.

This series takes away parts of the Justice League that make them appear polished, and leaves us with a flawed and inexperienced version of our team, one that must grow to survive and save the world.
