5. Justice Guild Of America

Crime Syndicate

The Justice Guild of America (or JGA), is a version of the League that resembles the team when they first brought to the pages of comic books. As a tribute to the Justice League of the Silver and Golden Ages, The Justice Guild of America made their television debut in the two-part episode “Legends” in the Justice League animated series.

In the episode, it is revealed the Justice Guild of America exist on a parallel universe, one that resembles the 1950’s. The Guild also exists on Earth 0, albeit as fictional comic book characters, something that Green Lantern notices immediately.

The Guild consists of The Green Guardsmen who is modeled after Alan Scott’s Green Lantern, Black Siren who resembles early drawings of Black Canary. Their speedster, a hero named The Streak, wears a helmet like Jay Garrick’s Flash, while their strongman, Tom Turbine, was based on Golden Age favorite The Atom according to creator Bruce Timm.

The final member of the team is Catman, who is an amalgamation of two heroes, Golden Age Batman and Golden Age Wildcat. The Justice Guild brings a bit of nostalgia to the hit animated series, reminding viewers of our heroes’ humble beginnings.
