Comic book movies are here to stay, in one form or another - that's almost a certainty. Seriously, look at the last four decades of movie releases: while they haven't always been as popular as they have been in the last few years, they've been a constant. With that established, it's time to go on record and say that 2016 will be the last truly significant year in the comic book movie boom. That's right, the almighty superhero movie is headed for a steep drop-off a just a little over a year from now. And despite movie studios putting all the money in the world into creating an endless string of interconnected movies with expansive universes and a constantly rotating cast of characters, we've only got about 12 months before things start to go awry. Again, that doesn't mean everything released from 2017 onward is going to be forgettable garbage that no one pays attention to, but you better believe that they're not going to be as successful as movie studios are currently banking on.
