Birds Of Prey Movie: Fan-Casting Every Major Role

This is a lot trickier than it looks.

Keeping track of all these Harley Quinn spin-offs might be an arduous task, but one fans should reserve a unique interest for is the newly-announced Birds of Prey, Kathy Yan's upcoming ensemble about DC's premier women-led super-team set to release in the near future.

Yan joins Patty Jenkins and Ava DuVernay as one of the DCEU's leading women directors, and while there's some confusion over what her film will end up portraying, there's no escaping the film's title. Birds of Prey - in the comics at least - never revolved around Harley Quinn, but instead a group of DC superheroines.

Created by Chuck Dixon and Jordan B. Gorfinkel, Birds of Prey was galvanised by writer Gail Simone in the early 2000s, quickly becoming a fan-favourite series and a constant presence for the publisher through to their divisive 2011 reboot. It's highly rated, and with news of the team heading to the big screen, fans have already been discussing who should play who, who should adapt what, and how it should all come together.

Whether it be recasting old favourites or bringing new characters to cinema for the first time, Birds of Prey could end up being one of the most important DC films yet. Here's hoping it nails everything in equal respects.
