CM Punk Writing New Ongoing Marvel Title Featuring Batista's Drax

Big news from the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo.

CM Punk's relationship with Marvel continues to grow: while training for his UFC debut sometime later this year (most likely), the former WWE champion will be moonlighting writing an ongoing comic series focused on the character of Drax the Destroyer, popularized by another former WWE champ, Batista. According to Punk, at a panel at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, the series, simply titled "Drax," will focus on the character's time outside of Guardians of the Galaxy, and will be written with a yet unnamed co-writer. Said Punk at the Expo "I think we'll be drawing from the cinematic Drax because that's what's mainstream right now." He went on to state, however, that the Drax he is most familiar with is "the Infinity Gauntlet Drax. He's big and green and he's dumb. The new Drax is completely different." He also hinted at a lot of action to come - Drax fighting a lot of people, not the least of which may be himself. It sounds promising. The character of Drax, along with Batista, got some rave reviews in last summer's blockbuster, and will be back for a sequel. In the meantime, this title should keep the character in the spotlight with Marvel fans. When asked about returning to his own career of pro wrestling later in the panel, Punk broke out the F word again when nixing the idea of a return, saying "I would put my boots on and shuffle my feet and walk out there and be like, 'I don't even know. It doesn't mean anything. It's fake."
