Every R-Rated DC Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

No matter which way you spin it, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an aggressively mediocre film at best.

There are some decent ideas, performances, and action sequences on display, but they are ultimately hampered by a frustratingly disjointed (and occasionally nonsensical) plot, a needlessly dour tone, the misrepresentation of key characters, and the fact that Warner Bros. prioritized rushing the DCEU over putting together an enjoyable film.

The R-rated Ultimate Edition of the film was something of a mixed bag (which, as we'll learn, is a common thread with R-rated DC films.) There are some ways in which it actually improved on the theatrical cut, but it still comes with its own drawbacks.

On the one hand, we get a bit more insight when it comes to who certain characters are, as well as a bit more world-building that actually lends itself to the plot and is genuinely interesting. On the other hand, however, the Ultimate Edition extends this already sluggish film to three whole hours.

While it does have a tiny bit more to offer in terms of quality, the R-rated version of Batman v Superman ultimately does little to alleviate the problems that made the theatrical cut such a chore to sit through.
