Every R-Rated DC Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Constantine
Speaking of mixed bags, let's talk about 2005's Constantine.
If you look at this film purely as an adaptation of the John Constantine/Hellblazer comics, it's pretty easy to rag on it. After all, while the similarities are there, the film as a whole is so far removed from the source material that it's barely recognizable as a Constantine story. Speaking of which, as great as Keanu Reeves is, he wasn't exactly the best choice to bring the iconic Vertigo character to life.
That being said, when you look at it in a bubble, Constantine actually isn't all that bad. It's far from great mind you, but given the decent use it was able to make of its premise, visuals, and story, it's far from being outright terrible either. What's more is that Reeves does do a solid job at bringing his character to life (even if that character is not the John Constantine DC fans know and love by almost any stretch of the imagination).
As a film, Constantine does still fall short in a few areas and it could have benefited greatly from doubling down on the horror elements or just doing a bit more to set itself apart from the other demon-themed films out there. Ultimately though, while the film is anything but perfect, at the very least, it's watchable.
