Gotham Season 5: What Does [SPOILER]'s Death Mean?

2. Selina's Decision Will Have Huge Ramifications

Selina Kyle Gotham Season 5
Fox

You can't really blame Selina Kyle for wanting revenge on Jeremiah. The guy shot her for no good reason - other than to antagonise Bruce, of course. It's safe to say she was well within her rights to want a bit of justice for that. However, taking someone's life is a different matter altogether, and while Selina has always walked the line between good and evil, there's no doubt that the seriousness of her actions will have some sort of an impact on her.

Truth be told, Selina hasn't been the same since she ingested Ivy's root cure. She's undergone some sort of metamorphosis, which has instilled her with the abilities of a cat - but it's also clearly affected her personality, which has allowed for her darker side to come out.

This dark side, no doubt, played into her decision to kill Jeremiah, which begs the question of whether or not she is too far gone? Regardless of whether she was fully in control of the situation or not, the fact of the matter is that she killed someone (or at least she thinks she did - more on that later).

That's got to be a burden to carry around, but perhaps Selina doesn't care anymore since her personality was altered. It's possible that this is Gotham's own unique way of ensuring that Selina becomes more like her comic book counterpart and less like the friendly youth that's paraded around the city for the past four and a bit seasons.
