8. He Was A Member Of The X-Men & The Avengers
It remains to be seen whether or not the X-Men will have an impact on the MCU in the immediate future (more on that later), but any newcomers should understand that Namor has been a part of two of Marvel’s biggest teams in the past.
He’s better known as a member of the X-Men, but even then he’s not as famous a member of them as the likes of Storm, Cyclops or Jean. This could work in his favour though, as unlike the more major X-Men he’s not been depicted on screen and therefore not tied to any Stewart or McAvoy portrayal.
Namor actually first met the Avengers as a rival (more on that later too), and is the reason they’re able to recover Captain America’s frozen body. Following this battle, he gains their respect and is offered the chance to join them, but ultimately rejects it.
It isn’t until much later in his comic book life that he eventually teams up with them, and even then he’s pretty averse to teamwork, especially when butting heads with Hercules.
Basically, despite belonging to these two famous teams, he’s a bit of a lone wolf.
