After being announced in 2015, fans have been kept in the dark regarding what, exactly, Sony's animated Spider-Man film would be like. Miles Morales was said to be the title character, but apart from the involvement of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, there was no way of predicting how Sony's animated effort would pan out.

Thanks to a recent teaser, however, we may have just gotten our answer. Set to be released next year, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will feature Miles (created by Brian Bendis and Sara Pichelli), in an as of yet unknown adventure. The trailer didn't let on much in that way, but - judging from the online reaction - it's managed to generate a whole lot of buzz.

It's not without reason, either. Sony's first animated Spidey film looks electric, and its introduction of Miles to a wider audience is fantastic to see too, particularly so, considering how the mask has been dominated by Peter Parker for what many would consider to be a fairly protracted period of time.

In any case, 2018 is very much Miles' year, and while Sony's animated department remains unproven at this time, there's no denying that this project - above others - looks very, very exciting.
