10 Beloved And Critically Acclaimed Films That Aren't Actually Very Good

Star Wars Hype is something that can make or break even the best of films and is really responsible for many of them being considered absolute classics without really earning their reputation as such. Hearing so much about how incredible a movie is usually only serves to make it impossible to live up to anyone's expectations, unless it's 2001: A Space Odyssey or Taxi Driver. Those two are perfect in every way. It's happened to the best of us. A friend or loved one goes on and on about how incredible a specific movie is and then you get around to finally watching it and you can't discover what's supposed to be so great about this beloved work. To take this example one step further you pretend to like it thus renewing its status as an amazing work of art for future generations even though it isn't very good. It's obvious that some movies retain their classic status because they are some of the best movies ever made, the aforementioned 2001: A Space Odyssey and Taxi Driver apply here, but other times the passage of time has only served to de-grade certain films. Not because they've all become outdated but mainly because they just weren't that good to begin with. Of course, the passage of time isn't the only thing that can give a movie an unjust reputation which you'll see as you read on. I now present to you 10 beloved and critically acclaimed films that aren't very good. Don't believe the hype.
