10 Deleted MCU Scenes You Have To See

They really shouldn’t leave the best stuff on the cutting room floor.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an entertainment juggernaut, with a combined box office gross that blows everything else out of the water. Not only that, in Infinity War and the upcoming Endgame they’ve combined all their major characters together for an iconic showdown.

Movie events like this are once in a lifetime, and to prepare for it many fans are watching the entire MCU roster over again. However, with over twenty movies released by now, there’s been a lot of content cut; some of it really should have stayed.

Though it’s common for certain scenes to get cut for time or because their purpose is either unnecessary, counter intuitive to the film’s major themes or just too similar to content which survives, this lot really deserves to be seen.

With Endgame running over three hours, Marvel seems less concerned now with runtime and more with making the best movie possible. Still, we can look back on the other flicks that weren’t so lucky, and see how this cut content changes not only their own movie, but in some cases our entire perception of a character’s arc.

10. Doctor Strange Heals A Dog - Doctor Strange

This scene comes shortly after Doctor Strange arrives in Kathmandu, and unfortunately, it’s this placing early in the runtime that was its undoing. It showed a little slice of humanity within Strange, but he was still within his downward spiral at this point so it wasn’t particularly fitting.

In it, Doctor Strange approaches a mangy looking dog and MacGyvers a makeshift splint out of nearby objects. It’s the first real sign of Strange actually being heroic, given that riches and glory are the clear motivation for his life-saving achievements as a surgeon, rather than any altruistic goodness.

Taking so long in the movie to actually make their lead likeable was definitely a risk, but at least they stuck to their guns with it, rather than cramming this incident in there to remind us he’s a good guy at heart.

On-screen animals usually enjoy their fair share of popularity from the fandom - just look at Goose the Flerken in Captain Marvel. If the dog had remained in the final version of the Doctor Strange flick, he certainly would have been a hit. On balance though, it’s probably for the best that this was left out.
