10. Do Know What Kind of Mood You Are In
Not all movies can cater to every facet of the complicated emotional spectrum known as the human mood. So do yourself a favor and know what kind of mood you're in. Nothing's worse than feeling down in the dumps and walking into a Lars Von Trier movie to cheer yourself up. It's like trying to convince your girlfriend that the new Jason Statham movie really doesn't have that much violence in it. It ain't happening. When renowned screenwriting guru, Syd Field first screened "Chinatown" he thought it was dull and even dozed off. Why? Because he didn't want to be there. He was tired and coming down with a cold and brushed off one of the greatest movies of all time as dull. So please, please know your mood and if you're not feeling it, take a raincheck. Once you feel up to it, you may find yourself watching the right movie at the right time and enjoying true cinema. But of course that won't matter unless the people you're with don't care which leads to the next point...
