10 Extremely Subtle Movie Cameos That Went Straight Over Your Head
6. Sam Raimi Is The Medieval Knight That Hails Bruce In Evil Dead 2
Evil Dead 2 happens to feature one of my all-time favourite movie endings, just because it's so downright insane and doesn't really make much sense: having battled horrific zombie creatures at an isolated cabin in the woods, our hero Ash is sucked into a portal and plunged back through time to Medieval England.
Why? Well, it doesn't really matter, because this is Sam Raimi territory - and as if to cement that point, the director makes a subtle appearance. Unless you know what he looks like because you've seen interviews and poured over them like a nutcase in your room at night, you can't really tell that this is Raimi: he's concealed in a knight's armour, save for a portion of his face.
Having stepped forward to greet Ash after our hero slays a flying zombie beast, the director lifts up his helmet and shouts: "Hail he, who has come from the skies to deliver us from the terrors of the deadites... hail!", thus beginning the chant that will send our buddy Ash into a state of comic despair: "No! No! Nooooo!"
