There are multitudes of podcasts out there, many of which are film-related, and it can be hard to find some that are worth seeking out week-to-week. These ten podcasts are guaranteed to entertain for an hour (some much longer) whenever and wherever they’re listened to. The following range from straightforward reviews to comedians trying to outdo each other with film-related jokes, so there is something on this list for everyone. Nine of the podcasts are available on a weekly basis, so you can make a habit of listening on your daily commute or while doing chores. All of them are easily accessible on iTunes and on RSS feeds.
iTunes has a convenient new Podcasts app which is helpful in managing all of your podcasts. You can find it here.

10. The Golden Briefcase
Tim Buel and Jeremy Kirk host Firstshowing.net’s weekly podcast. Each episode features Buel, Kirk, and a guest discussing their “Pick of the Week”, new trailers, and a topic related to a movie released that week. The show is usually 80-90 minutes but never drags, thanks in part to the entertaining segments and the hosts’ chemistry. And it is refreshing that instead of reviewing the week’s new release, the gang discusses a topic related to it. Last week, in honor of The Dark Knight Rises they discussed Batman in film, and for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter they listed their favorite movie presidents. The podcast always has great guests, including some big names like Richard Kelly and Matt Reeves. By the hosts’ admission, this is not an intellectual discussion of film. It’s just friends discussing movies, and there is nothing wrong with that.
It can be downloaded here.
When is it released?: Wednesdays/Thursdays
Notable episodes: 115: The Darker Side of Comedy (Guest: Matt Patches); 112: Of Xenomorphs & Stars (Guests: Richard Kelly and C. Robert Cargill)

No love for The Hollywood Saloon?
I’ll have to check it out.
What about Now Playing: The Movie Review Podcast? It is awesome!
I haven’t heard of Now Playing or The Hollywood Saloon. I’ll be sure to check both of those out.
No film junk?
I won’t take any this kind of chart seriously without the all mighty FILMJUNK
and surely Hollywood saloon is one of a kind
Comedy Film Nerds is great. Graham Elwood & Chris Mancini plus a guest comedian usually, with honest reviews and funny takes on films, comedic and otherwise.
Check out the F This Movie podcast – fthismovie.blogspot.com. It’s really good. Insightful/funny.
No love for the 5live film review show with Kermode and Mayo? It’s the only podcast I listen to regularly.
I assume Kermode and Mayo isn’t here because anyone who’s interested should know about it. Kermode is the most legit critic amongst the podcasts mentioned.
Have listened to filmspotting for years and continue to do so. Sam was a good co-host, Matty was even better and a worked great with Adam, though I’m trying I really can’t warm to Josh, his taste in films, his voice, his lack of humour – has knocked filmspotting down the pecking order for me.
@Ed: You should check out Battleship Pretension. The hosts are definitely not fanboys…they both went to film school and have really legit in-depth discussions.
What a strange list to not include The Film Talk, some of the most intelligent, thoughtful, passionate film discussions I’ve ever heard.
What a strange list to not include everything I like and yet mention a bunch of stuff I’ve never heard of. How odd.
