10 Films That Prove 1984 Was The Best Year For '80s Movies

5. Gremlins

Gremlins is a 1984 horror comedy film about a cute little weirdo creature called Gizmo who gets wet and multiplies into a whole load of other cute little weirdo creatures who then transform into evil little d*ckhead weirdo creatures after eating some fried chicken. It's a strange plot, but damn does it work. Gremlins is easily one of the most memorable films of the '80s, loved for it's clever blend of horror and humour and for the adorable teddybear-like mogwais. It's another one of those films that conjures up nostalgia for a whole generation of viewers, and was responsible for scores of people's cats, dogs and rabbits wandering around answering to the name Gizmo. The film naturally followed with a massive merchandising campaign, filling homes throughout the land with cuddly, little, overpriced mogwai toys, only proving to strengthen the movie's legacy.
