10 Films That Prove 1984 Was The Best Year For '80s Movies
4. Beverly Hills Cop
Beverly Hills Cop is about as '80s as it gets. A cool synthesiser soundtrack, car chases and a wise-cracking cop who doesn't play by the rules. The film pretty much made Eddie Murphy and was met with universal critical acclaim. In fact, believe it or not, it was nominated for a freakin' Oscar! Yep, the film with the soundtrack that spawned Crazy Frog was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Financially, it was the biggest film of the year and became the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time, a title it held until it was beaten by The Matrix Reloaded in 2003.
