Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Princess Leia, R2-D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO, Qui-Gon Jinn, Yoda, the list goes on. But, for each one of these important characters, there are many lesser characters who serve an important purpose in the Star Wars Universe. Outside of the six Star Wars films, there have been many stories written about the Star Wars Universe. Not content with Episode VI ending how it did, some authors decided to create new stories, or alter existing ones. From this came the Expanded Universe, which encompasses every licensed story about the Star Wars Universe. So it should come as no surprise that these stories would create some important characters. This article will look at the 10 most important characters to never appear in any of the six existing Star Wars films. Despite the sheer volume of big names and important plot lines, this article will focus mainly on those characters whose actions made a significant impact on the Galaxy. It will cover events going as far back as the time of The Old Republic, and will go as far ahead into The New Republic Era.
