10 Most Interesting Marvel Villains (We Haven't Seen Onscreen Yet)

There's nothing like a good villain to really lift a movie. Someone who holds the exact opposite view of the world but is convincing enough that you start to think that they might just be right about their reasons for obliterating humanity: a menacing, charismatic presence that challenges the hero in more than just a physical way. After all, John McClane is nothing but a tough cop without Hans Gruber, the hoiked-up bank robber with pretensions of grandeur. That all makes it incredibly baffling that so few movies have bad guys with any semblance of personality or complexity or, frankly, coolness. When it comes to comic book movies, you'd think that this problem wouldn't even exist. Even if the ideas behind the baddies weren't particularly challenging or new, at least the colourful costumes and weird powers would be a bonus, right? Well, not quite, as it turns out. How many villains from Marvel movies can you recall by name? Can you count them all on one hand? That sounds about right. It's a damn shame, because the Marvel Universe is filled with hundreds, maybe even thousands of dastardly characters and teams with weird and fascinating backstories and powers. Sam Raimi managed to get some good picks in his first Spider-Man movies - Doctor Octopus, at least, is an incredibly engaging character - but the Marvel Cinematic Universe can't seem to land anyone quite as compelling as their more heroic characters. There are obvious exceptions, of course - Loki being one - but on the whole the MCU seems to be wanting for a really great villain to steal the show.
