Howard the Duck heads up the list of comic book characters who could really use some big-screen redemption. His 1986 movie debut is a major contender for worst Marvel Comics adaptation of all time, and that's really saying something considering it's up against all three versions of Fantastic Four.

Hopes that Howard might get his comeback opportunity ran high when Guardians of the Galaxy landed in 2014 as the feathered hero popped up for a post-credits cameo. Given that this was the movie's big stinger, fans were fooled into thinking there was substance behind it, but an MCU Howard the Duck film is yet to materialise.

It seems Howard's cameo was about as impactful on continuity as Stan Lee's obligatory appearances, but Guardians director James Gunn at least gave him a little more screen time in the sequel.

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has revealed that the next crop of MCU films after 2019's Avengers 4 will be radically different to the rest of the franchise. Could that include a Howard movie? There's an outside chance, but file this Easter egg under 'just for fun' for the time being.
