Here's the thing with Alien prequels: the fans are incapable of deciding what they want.

With Prometheus, Ridley Scott made something flawed yet thoroughly original and was crucified for it. So, he returns to the drawing board with Covenant, bins off the Engineers and adds some Facehuggers and Xenomorphs, only for the world to accuse him of retreading old ground.

Maybe this is why certain things should be left well alone, but some fans found inspiration in Prometheus and left the theatre pondering existential questions and debating them with anyone who would listen.

Others felt an Alien movie without Xenomorphs was like a bun with no burger in the middle, while others couldn't excuse it for failing to answer the questions it posed.

There are those live in hope that Prometheus will one day go down as an enriching entry in the Alien saga, once Scott makes the ends meet, but just as many who've already written it off as worthless space debris.
