Critical Consensus: 33% I fondly remember the day that Roger posted this review; the Internet nerds, most of whom hadn't even seen Alex Proyas' new film yet, had a field day with it, saying that the critic had lost his knack and would give any old tripe four stars now. Ebert's philosophical engagement with the narrative is interesting, given that I found it hard to focus on such ideas when the lame-brained story, shoddy acting and general ineptitude of the production (it was...aliens!?) were so invasive. For Ebert to put Knowing up there with the likes of 2001: A Space Odyssey just seems...wrong.
