10 Movies That Couldn't Get Time Travel Right

3. Timecop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OPLHgw54h4 Timecop is a fun movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme if you can get past the infuriating lack of thought put into the time travel logic. Van Damme plays Max Walker, a Timecop who basically polices temporal space, ensuring that nobody screws with the past, and faces resistance when a corrupt Senator (Ron Silver) wants to alter the past to set himself on a path for the White House. This is all well and good, but a rule established early on is that it is impossible to travel forward in time, because the future does not exist yet, just the present and the past. A few scenes later, this is crapped upon from a great height as baddies show up from the future and attack Walker. Besides, travelling back in time would causes the temporal space you just occupied to become "the future" that apparently hasn't happened yet. And then, how can Walker go back to the present from "the past" without essentially travelling into the future? It's like time travel written by an infant.
