Every once in a while a film comes along that comes really close to being good but for one reason or another, the pieces don't quite fit together right and audiences are left with a bit of a mess instead of a masterpiece. The following movies are by no means bad movies (although I'm sure some will disagree), rather they were films that either had great premises and didn't deliver or were simply too ambitious for their own good. The following movies are not masterpieces either but since good ideas and ambition are in short supply in modern Hollywood, movies that make the effort to have one or both of these traits deserves some kind of recognition, even if the final product didn't quite meet the sum of its parts. These are films that definitely gave it their all but are simply too flawed to be considered great movies. That doesn't mean the movies are not watchable however and many of them can be extremely interesting if you watch them with an open mind.
