10 Noble Film Failures In The Last Decade

10. Hancock

hancock Hancock should have been one of the more entertaining films of the last decade but vapid plot twists and a lack of direction prevented it from living up to its potential. Hancock was an extremely novel idea as it showed a superhero who really doesn't care about anyone and who has a bit of a drinking problem. Eventually the namesake superhero (played by Will Smith) has to turn to a public relations worker to fix his image. The good news for the film is that the main characters were played well by a talented cast that included Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman, and the film did have a few funny scenes. The bad news however, is that Hancock tries to be too many things at once, never finding the right balance between comedy, epic, and drama. The film had loads of potential but unfortunately tried to do too much and wound up not doing much of anything memorable.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
