10. Antichrist

Lars von Trier's ultra-controversial 2009 horror film stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as a couple whose life is turned upside down after their infant son accidentally falls to his death while they're busy having sex.

There are only three credited actors throughout the entire movie, with young Storm Acheche Sahlstrøm playing the couple's doomed son for the opening minutes of the movie.

Beyond that, the entire film is focused on Dafoe and Gainsbourg's characters as their psyches slowly unravel, which eventually turns to stomach-churningly brutal physical violence.

It's certainly not for everyone - it is a von Trier movie after all - but as a bravura acting showpiece for its leads, it's one of the most evocative and unforgettable two-man shows of the last decade (for which Gainsbourg won Cannes' Best Actress award).
