10 Reasons IT Is Better Than The Original

9. The Original Is Carried By Tim Curry's Performance

Re-watching the 1990 version of It makes it abundantly clear just how reliant it was on Tim Curry's firecracker performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, to the point that many of its flaws are routinely glossed-over because Curry's turn is so damn good.

Were Curry not so fantastic, It probably wouldn't be talked about much these days, yet conversely, the new movie doesn't hang all its hopes on Bill Skarsgård's terrific performance, and is pretty damn good with or without his involvement.

Replace Tim Curry and the 1990 It potentially falls apart, but Skarsgård could probably have been switched-out for another actor and the rest of the movie is strong enough that it would probably survive just fine.
