The appeal of movies like 22 Jump Street and Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy, two of the summers biggest financial successes, is rather obvious. Is there ever a time when it's not okay to turn your brain off, laugh uncontrollably, and/or bask in nail-biting action, heroics, and costly special effects? Comedies and lighthearted superhero movies will never grow old, since the range of audiences partial to those kinds of films is all-encompassing. However, there are other films out there that only appeal to the most depraved of individuals, or at least those that like to dip their toe into the depravity pool from time to time. These are films that are so sadistic, so brutal that the average film-goer wouldn't last five minutes. Today you will be presented with ten unsettling films that have traumatized many members of the general public. Theres not a supernatural entity or masked killer in site. Rather, these films make even the most hardened horror fans think twice about the limitations of human resilience. Be warned, some descriptions for the films contain spoilers in order to entice and/or repulse, and are definitely not for the faint of heart.
