Pointing out movie plot holes is, in essence, a completely redundant and otherwise arbitrary act: who cares, right? Movies aren’t supposed to hold up to “real world logic,” and everyone – including the filmmakers who let various plot holes slip by – knows it. Still, there is something unexplainably satisfying in realising that a movie has a huge plot hole that renders it somewhat implausible. It’s not that you want to ruin the experience, it’s just that it’s really hard not to take pleasure from the fact that you might be smarter than the people who made the movie.

For those of you who started out at the beginning of the year saying things like: “There will be no plot holes in movies from 2013,” firstly – that’s a really odd thing to say. And what do you know? Here there are, presented in a handy list format for your reading pleasure. No, they don’t ruin the movies entirely, but – let’s face it – they’re at least interesting enough to talk about.

Here, then, are the 10 most ridiculous plot holes in 2013 movies. How many did you spot already?
