There are several types of Hollywood scandals - the tragic, the unnecessary, the heart rending - and then there are the Schadenfreude ha ha he got caught with his pants down moments. The list below contains both types of scandals - endless fodder for conspiracy theorists and the sleaziest tabloids. Unfortunately for every Hugh Grant caught with a hooker scandal, there are morbid tales of death and self destruction - River Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Brittany Murphy - are among the unfortunate talents who succumbed to the lure of the dark, seedy underbelly of fame. 10. Rob Lowe

Robe Lowe is a talented actor whose popularity has spanned from being a member of the 1980s Brat Pack of actors (starring in films like St Elmo's Fire and About Last Night...) right up to the present day - portraying JFK in a made for television special. Lowe shocked Hollywood by being the first actor to allegedly become notorious for starring in a home made sex tape. Whilst he was campaigning for Michael Dukakis in a Democrat convention, he picked up two women, brought them back to his hotel room, set the camera on record. What he didn't know was that one of the girls was allegedly underage... Further woe came Lowe's way with the release of another tape which showed him having sex - regular and oral - with a model called Jennifer, accompanied by his friend Justin. This was before sex tapes became cynically de rigeur to promote one's career. After a bit of a huff, the world forgave Lowe and he went on to parody the incident himself two years later on Saturday Night Live.
