10 Star Wars Spin-Offs Gareth Edwards Needs To Direct

We look at the six Star Wars films and extended universe to consider the possibilities...

It is an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. We are finally getting ours dream of a sequel trilogy featuring Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo. The casting announcements at the end of April have given us hope that we won't have to endure more dodgy scripts and wooden acting from its cast. Here at Whatculture we've already speculated what roles these new actors might play. Not only are we getting episodes VII, VIII and IX, there will be a series of spin off movies too, not to mention a new animated series Star Wars Rebels. Of course, for any Star Wars fan worth his salt, this is old news. Chronicle director Josh Trank is directing one Star Wars movie, rumoured - but not confirmed - to be a Han Solo film that charts his days pre-Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Fresh from the Godzilla remake, we have Gareth Edwards up for a second. Like Josh Trank, we don't have any definitive answers as to what the plot of his Star Wars spin off will be, but we can have plenty of fun guessing. In this article we look at the characters from the two movie trilogies - and the expanded universe - who deserve their own spin-offs. The possibilities to expand this franchise are endless; done right, we could see stand alone Star Wars films for many years to come. Could Gareth Edwards direct any of these? Click 'NEXT' to take a look at the first possibility...
