10 Things Every Harry Potter Fan Wishes Were In The Movies

8. S.P.E.W.

The films don't have any mention of Hermione's efforts to reverse the oppression of non-wizards/witches. In fact, aside from Dobby and Kreacher, film audiences don't see much of the house elves at all. It seems like exactly the kind of thing that Hermione was talking about.

Her creation of S.P.E.W. (The Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) never really gains much traction, but she tirelessly works to get her fellow students to help her cause. She knits hats and socks for the house elves to find in the Gryffindor Common Room, hoping to free the elves she felt were essentially enslaved by Hogwarts.

Ultimately, the society actually backfires, as it turns out they enjoyed their work and saw her efforts as an insult to her race. But Hermione never ceased to fight for what is right, and it would've been nice to see her admirable efforts on screen.
