9. That Terrible Movie

If Daredevil still exists in the public consciousness at all, it's going to be for one reason and one reason only: his last appearance in live action, played by Ben Affleck, in Mark Steven Johnson's mostly terrible movie from 2003. Everyone went into that thing with the best intentions, and Michael Clarke Duncan was inspired casting as arch nemesis Kingpin, but apart from that... Truly, Daredevil is a terrible film. Not totally irredeemable, as the fervent fans of the Director's Cut which admittedly cleans up a lot of the mess will tell you, but still. It has way too much nu metal, way too much sub-Matrix wire work, goofy special effects, Colin Farrell with a shaved head and a target carved into his forehead, and you remember all the nu metal, right? There's an Evanescence song which is all over the film, to the point that the music video involves the gothy lot flouncing about with Daredevil in the background. Johnson has since directed the first, awful Ghost Rider film, and hasn't really been allowed to touch much else since. It could've been good, working from some classic Miller comics, but it was a completely middle-of-the-road, uninspiring, poorly made superhero flick. And that's not the Daredevil Marvel want people to have in mind when they sit down for their next big Netflix binge.
