10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Daredevil
10. The Nineties
Sandwiched in between Frank Miller's iconic run (followed by an equally inventive but rarely celebrated series of issues by writer Ann Nocenti and artist John Romita Jr) and that revitalised Daredevil by Bendis and Maleev, Matt Murdock had something of a wilderness period. Things were not going great for the Man Without Fear for most of the nineties. In fact, the comic industry as a whole sort of collapsed in on itself during the decade Marvel especially, the comic book boom of the start of the nineties sharply plummeting to the extent that the publisher went bankrupt, financially as well as creatively. Fans felt the creative side far more strongly. Aside from Miller and Romita Jr returning for the The Man Without Fear miniseries, the nineties sucked for Daredevil. He redesigned his costume to look hella goofy, his classic billy clubs went all Ninja Turtles by being able to form nunchucks or a bo staff, his secret identity came out and he made a new identity called Jack Batlin...it wasn't good.
