10 Truly Awful Superhero Movie & TV Love Interests

3. Jane Foster - Thor

Natalie Portman is one of the most incredible female actors of her generation. There's not even room to debate that. She was a child prodigy who grew into an Oscar-winning actress, and although her choices are somewhat spotty, her raw talent is unimpeachable. Which is why it's such a shock that she not only appeared in the Thor franchise, accepting such a poorly written role, but that she turns in an incredibly bland and uninspired performance.

Jane Foster is superfluous in each of the Thor films -- even Thor seems to frequently forget that she exists and that he's supposed to have legitimate romantic feelings for her.

It doesn't help matters that she frequently shares scenes with Kat Dennings, who has a lot of natural charisma and pretty solid comic timing, so her character has a tendency to jump off the screen. In comparison, poor little Jane Foster just feels like a flat, unnecessary character who has no real designated role in the film that couldn't easily be taken on by someone else.
