10 Unfortunate Consequences Of Living In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

10. All Your Achievements Up To This Point Suck

Captain America Picture this. You're a crack World War II commando, and you're renowned for your skill. Men want to be you, women swoon at your feet and life is all pretty damn rosy, a few hair-raising missions aside. Your self-esteem is at all-time-high, and why not? You've worked hard to get to where you are. You've lifted weights, ran that extra mile, spent that added time at the rifle range. You've earned it €“ you're the best of the best, and that's been made possible through blood, sweat and tears. Yet one day, Captain America turns up. You're told that no matter what, this man is better than you. He can run faster, lift bigger weights, heal quicker and shoot weaponry far better than you could ever hope to dream. Then you're told the kicker €“ as Tony Stark once said, everything special about him came out of a bottle. Aside from being a thoroughly nice bloke, he's done precious little to warrant his abilities. Wouldn't that piss you off, knowing that no matter what you do, this man is just so much better than you? Realising that you have to take your place in the background of the laurel-givings and the medal ceremonies, entirely because you weren't the bloke getting 'roided up in that experiment? Is it a further kicker when you realise that Thorin Oakenshield ruined it for everyone else, and you'll never be able to use your expanded combat-craft on an equal footing? Yeah, I thought so.
