10 Unnecessary But Annoyingly Successful Film Sequels

DieHard2 It's seemingly an inevitability these days that when a film has some success at the box office, discussion of a sequel immediately begins. I really can't blame the studios as financially, it makes perfect sense. After all, the reliance on a franchise is much easier and quicker than creating something new. Plus, mass audiences will always react more favourably when they see a familiar franchise is adding to the original story. It's basic marketing. In this day and age, profits need to be made for survival. Often, though, the second time around feels totally unnecessary and sometimes takes a little something away from the first, more superior, movie. In this article, I will try and cover the films that have had mainstream success. The reason being is that there have been many forgettable direct-to-DVD sequels that I will try to avoid here where possible, as these are (almost) always awful anyway. I'll also leave out The Matrix and Jaws, as both have awful sequels that have been discussed to death over the years. Many of these films I've listed here have, in fact, made millions at the box office. But which ones do I wish were never made?
