8. Captain Marvel Casting
There were rumblings of a Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel cameo from pre-production to post production, and when Marvel announced that the character would be getting her own movie, the rumour mill went into overdrive. The plan apparently was for Captain Marvel to be part of the New Avengers team which appeared at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, she wouldn't have had any sort of role in the main body of the sequel, meaning that her surprise appearance as part of that roster would have baffled most viewers! The site which broke this story would later claim that she appeared in an early draft of the script, and it seemed like Whedon confirmed that when he talked about how he had wanted to use Captain Marvel during the recent press junket. However, Kevin Feige made it clear that they never considered letting Joss use the character, so this rumour was nonsense.
