Marvel movies are completely dominating the comic book movie scene at the moment, with Marvel Studios' Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise killing it at the box office, Fox's X-Men series still going strong after fourteen years and Sony's Amazing Spider-Man franchise providing some able backup to the pair. In fact, such is the popularity of the scene - mostly thanks to Marvel - that comic book movies are the most popular genre of movie in Hollywood, period, right now. Four of the top six movies of 2014 so far - in terms of worldwide box office grossing - have been movies based on Marvel characters (Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Marvel are rightfully receiving a lot of praise as a result.
