Though this past summer has seen a ton of movies deliver on their promises, from Wonder Woman to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Baby Driver, Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes, sadly not everything can always meet audience's often-lofty expectations.
Now, while few expected the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Transformers: The Last Knight to be much good, these 11 movies at least had a fighting chance at delivering an irreverent, action-packed, thought-provoking or straight-up fun time at the cinema.
As it turned out, each fell massively short of their potential, failing to deliver on their inherent promise and how they were marketed, instead serving up warmed-over retreads and weirdly dull efforts that totally wasted incredible casts.
That's not to say that all of these movies were completely, irredeemably awful, but they certainly missed the mark and left most audiences craving so, so much more...
