11 Predictions For DC’s 2 Mystery Comic Book Movies

The Batman Rises?

It seems that Batman v Superman has shaped the DC Extended Universe, just as Warner Bros and Zack Snyder had hoped it would. It's just not likely that wanted it to shape it in quite the way it has.

Having taken more than $700m and suffering an almighty drop in sales between weeks one and two, the film looks set to struggle to make the magical billion dollar box office and as The Hollywood Reporter has reported, the lesser profitability has caused a fair amount of concern at Warner Bros. There are also suggestions that they have changed focus to look at more franchises and "assured hits" (like Harry Potter) and will avoid too much originality.

Those issues aside, there's no suggestion that Warner Bros and DC are giving up on their current plan for the so-called DC Extended Universe. For further proof they've just announced two new projects for 2018 and 2019 that will sit alongside their already established slate. Inevitably the looming Bat symbol immediately springs to mind, but with Warner promising a different approach, the context seems pretty specific for any release.

So what are the options for the two movies released on October 5th, 2018 and November 1st, 2019?

11. Suicide Squad 2

Taking rumours of early buzz from Warner Bros hasn€™t always yielded the best results - someone there apparently loved both Batman & Robin and Batman V Superman, after all - but it€™s hard to ignore the apparent excitement over Suicide Squad.

That could well expedite a sequel and a whole new Squad under Amanda Waller and Rick Flag€™s control (assuming both survive). The problem would be retaining any of the breakout survivors of the first film with spin-offs a possibility, and the diminishing options in the Batman Rogues Gallery for another team.

But then they could go bigger and bolder, bringing in the Riddler, Catwoman, Clayface, Calendar Man, Hush and some cannon fodder The possibilities are actually huge.

Probability: 8/10

It€™s very distinct. If there€™s one thing WB and DC need at the minute it€™s a franchise to hang their hopes on and the darker, cooler Suicide Squad might be the best bet. Assuming it does well the first time out of course.
