12 Near-Miss Castings That Almost Improved The Marvel Cinematic Universe
7. Kevin McKidd As Donald Blake - Thor
Although the character of Donald Blake didn't actually make it in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at all (well, not really anyway), he almost did and would have been played by Gray's Anatomy star Kevin McKidd. Of course, Blake was mentioned several times - as a paramedic and ex-boyfriend of Jane Foster's, as the man whose shirt Foster still had and loaned to Thor, and as the man Erik Selvig pretended to be in order to get Thor released from S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. The reason his casting would have improved the Marvel Cinematic Universe is simple - it would have given us more chance of believing that a comic book storyline in which Thor's mind was placed in his body by Odin in order for him to learn humility could be adapted on screen, because that would be a really interesting concept to see performed in live action.
