12 People Who Hated Working On DC Movies

Comic book movies aren't all sweetness and light.

Looking at the comic book movie genre as a whole - with its colourful worlds, outrageous characters and aspirational achievements - you'd be tempted to think that working in that environment would be an absolute hoot. You turn up, you get paid lots and you make something that millions of people spend billions of dollars to see and love. And if you're lucky, you get a training regime that turns you into a buff deity while you're at it.

But what lies beneath the surface doesn't always match the external image. For every actor exploding with joy at getting to play a superhero, there's darkness, malcontent and deep, burning shame from others. And thanks to the wounds caused by lots of misfires and generally terrible experiences on set, there are as many actors who hated working on DC movies as there were on Marvel ones.

The first Man Of Steel George Reeves loved playing Superman and had genuine affection for his fans, but he felt he was wasting his career, and while there are assumptions out there, it's unclear how much Jared Leto really hated working on Suicide Squad - given that he's linked with playing The Joker again...

Honourable Mention

Christian Bale

Some rather unscrupulous sorts might have you believe that Christian Bale hated playing Batman in The Dark Knight, based on some comments he made about his performances across the whole Dark Knight trilogy.

In reality, Bale simply believes he could have done better with his take on the Bat and wanted to explore the deeper inner psychology of what it meant to be the Dark Knight and Bruce Wayne. He couldn't, because that space was occupied by Heath Ledger's Joker, but he by no means had a bad time.
