13 Comic Book Villains That Movies Ruined Worse Than Dr Doom

Because at least he didn't end up like "Barakapool"...

By now everyone's spat up their fair share of bile regarding Josh Trank's horrendous Fantastic Four reboot, and one of the most vocal complaints about the movie is that it does a terrible job bringing Dr. Doom (or merely Doom, as he's known here), to the big screen. Toby Kebbell was clearly game for the part, but he's put underneath performance-encroaching make-up for his brief screen time as the villain (showing up for just 15 minutes in the film's rushed finale), his motives are lazy, and he simply isn't established as a palpable threat. Hell, so bad was the new Doom that most fans were left to admit that the widely-ridiculed Dr. Doom from the 2005 and 2007 movies played by Julian McMahon was substantially less awful. At least in those films Doom had significant amounts of screen time, looked somewhat similar to the source material and was developed as a fully fleshed-out character, even if Fox didn't seem to care much about making him a particularly interesting villain. Of course, this isn't an isolated incident. Movie studios have only recently begun to treat the comic boom medium with respect, and so it's unsurprising that incredible interpretations like Heath Ledger's Joker and Tom Hiddleston's Loki are pretty few and far between. From villains that scarcely resemble their comic counterparts at all to iconic baddies pigeonholed into depressingly small supporting roles, here are 13 comic book villains ruined by cinemas worse than Dr. Doom...
