13 Great Actors Completely Wasted In MCU Movies

11. Bokeem Woodbine - Spider-Man: Homecoming

Wasted MCU
Marvel Studios

The Role: Herman Schultz

By rights, Bokeem Woodbine is the kind of actor who would justify a full-on villain role in a comic book movie - or at least the elevation to a higher level secondary villain, but thanks to Spider-Man: Homecoming's surprisingly vast cast, there was little space for him as anything other than a glorified henchman.

To be fair, Shocker was never going to be a major player in any Spider-Man movie, but the decision to split him into two and give the more interesting character traits to Logan Marshall Green's Tom Hardy-like Jasckson Brice was a disservice both to the character and the actors. And the result was Woodbine lacking any character development at all.

He seemed to exist solely to justify the scene in which Adrian Toomes accidentally vapourises Brice, which didn't really serve any great purpose in itself other than a throw-away gag. And that mistreatment meant Woodbine had precisely nothing to do other than turn up to get beat down in the final act.
