10. Tim Blake Nelson - The Incredible Hulk
The Role: Samuel Sterns
Tim Blake Nelson's role in The Incredible Hulk is slightly different to the rest of the bunch here as his character was more of a missed opportunity than anything else.
It's still true to say that he was painfully underused as Bruce Banner's brainy cohort who develops a "cure" for him and inadvertently gives Emil Blonsky the keys to becoming the Abomination, but it's the end of his arc in that film that proves he was even more wasted.
Eventually, Stern gets on the wrong side of Blonsky and ends up getting some of Banner's mutant blood into a wound on his head, kicking off a mutation into Marvel Comics villain The Leader, who would have suited Nelson's more quirky range as an actor. The fact that we got all of the boring stuff of his origin without the pay-off is just tragic.
