14 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (Which Aren't Blockbusters)

14. Hereditary

Hereditary Toni Collette

Release Date: June 8

The Plot: Following the death of the family matriarch, daughter Annie (Toni Collette) comes to suspect that a malevolent presence haunts her home, with a disconcerting interest in Annie's daughter Charlie (Milly Shapiro).

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: The directorial debut of Ari Aster premiered back at Sundance to rave reviews, and has already carved out a niche for itself as the year's art-house horror film to watch.

With reviews praising Aster's strong direction - all the more impressive for a first-timer - and a Toni Collette performance that Variety has already deemed Oscar-worthy, Hereditary releases the same week as Ocean's 8 and should provide some elevated genre thrills for more patient, discerning audiences.
